In Matchday Champions, your collection is more than a static set of cards. Your squad is always evolving. Nothing is better than seeing your carefully curated team get better the more you play the game.

As part of this ethos, we’ve introduced an awesome new feature into Matchday Champions: Skills.

With each match played, you’ll earn XP which is distributed to your squad based on their in-game performances. Crucial tackles, acrobatic saves and last gasp goals all contribute towards your cards hoovering up XP. When a card has earned enough XP, you’ll be given the option to Level it up.

With every level up, a card is awarded a new Skill. These skills will improve and upgrade your cards. Cards start at Level 1, and can be upgraded all the way until Level 5. Did we mention with each level up, your card will evolve visually?

What skills are there?

Take Pressing Machine, for example. This skill boosts a player’s pressing ability, helping solidify your defence and making it harder for opponents to break through. Or Playmaker, to improve a player’s passing & helping your entire team flow as one in attack.

As your cards climb up towards Level 5, you’ll unlock a total of four skills that make your squad stronger and more adaptable. Skills are awarded randomly, and could enhance or even dictate your play-style. Whether you are creating an iron-clad defence or a harmonious attacking line bursting with talent, skills offer range of strategic options.

Easy to Pick up.

Although they add a strategic layer, Skills benefit all players. From rookies to pro managers.  Players of all levels can enjoy seeing their cards grow visually and tactically. Your collection isn’t just a static set of cards, it’s an evolving, customisable squad for you to enjoy.

As you build your collection, your team is always improving.
